Aluminum 3003 H14 with Polykraft Moisture Barrier

2025-12-17

In the field of industrial insulation materials, 3003 H14 aluminum with Polykraft moisture barrier layer are becoming the preferred solution for industries such as oil, chemical, power, and new energy due to their unique material combination and process design.

3003 H14 aluminum belongs to the aluminum-manganese alloy series. Its core component, manganese, has its content strictly controlled within the range of 1.0%-1.5%, combined with small amounts of copper (0.05%-0.2%) and titanium to form a stable solid solution structure. This alloy ratio gives the material three fundamental advantages:
Corrosion resistance:
In standard testing, 3003 H14 aluminum's corrosion resistance to air, fresh water, seawater, and neutral inorganic salt solutions is close to that of industrial pure aluminum. Its corrosion rate in dilute acid environments is less than 0.01 mm/year, significantly better than 1060 pure aluminum coils.
Processability:
In H14 temper (1/4 hard state), the elongation can reach 12%-18%. Combined with its excellent deep-drawing performance, it can achieve seamless bonding to complex curved surfaces. In a steam pipeline insulation project of a chemical plant, this material successfully wrapped a 2.5-meter diameter irregular elbow with a bonding error of less than 0.5mm.
Mechanical properties:
Tensile strength 145-195MPa, yield strength ≥85MPa. While ensuring lightweight (density 2.73g/cm³), it can withstand external pressure of over 0.5MPa, meeting the insulation requirements of high-pressure equipment.

The Poly kraft moisture barrier layer is the core highlight of the performance upgrade. This moisture barrier layer adopts a multi-layer polyester fiber and Kraft paper composite process, with the thickness precisely controlled at 0.08-0.12mm. According to third-party testing, its water vapor transmission rate is less than 0.5g/(m²·24h). After continuous use in an environment with 95% relative humidity for 6000 hours, the corrosion area of the aluminum coil substrate is less than 0.1%. The Polykraft moisture barrier layer is bonded to a 3003 H14 aluminum substrate using hot-pressing technology, achieving a peel strength of 18N/10mm, far exceeding the industry standard of 12N/10mm. This effectively prevents the moisture barrier layer from warping or detaching during temperature cycling. This structural design ensures stable performance within an extreme temperature range of -40℃ to 120℃.

In application scenarios, the performance advantages of aluminum jacketing with poly kraft moisture barrier are fully realized. In industrial applications, especially in the petroleum and chemical industries, the demand for insulation of pipelines and storage tanks continues to grow. The 3003 H14 aluminum jacketing roll maintains excellent insulation performance in high-temperature and high-pressure environments, ensuring the safety and efficiency of the production process. Furthermore, its excellent corrosion resistance makes its application in chemical equipment more reliable, reducing maintenance costs and equipment replacement frequency. In the petrochemical industry, when used as the outer protective layer of crude oil pipelines, it can resist corrosion from the high salt spray environment of coastal areas, with a measured service life of over 15 years, extending it by 8 years compared to traditional galvanized steel sheet protective layers. In the field of building insulation, as an exterior layer of roof and exterior wall insulation systems, its surface flatness error is ≤0.5mm/m. Combined with the vapor barrier properties of the Polykraft moisture barrier layer, it reduces building energy consumption by 22%. In the power industry, this material, used as the insulation layer for converter valve cooling pipes, maintains structural integrity even in extremely cold environments down to -40℃. In the construction of cold chain logistics cold storage facilities, the combination of this aluminum coil and a polyurethane insulation layer effectively prevents condensation, reducing the average daily power consumption of the cold storage by 1.2kWh/㎡.

From a processing adaptability perspective, 3003 h14 aluminum with Kraft paper moisture barrier can be continuously sheared at high speed with burr-free cuts and exhibits excellent weldability. When using argon arc welding, the tensile strength of the weld can reach 85% of the base material. Whether for large-scale industrial projects or localized insulation in small venues, the 3003 H14 Polykraft moisture barrier aluminum roll jackating, with its stable mechanical properties and excellent moisture and corrosion resistance, has become the preferred material for insulation projects.
